We are currently seeking to recruit a Treasury and Accounts Payable Assistant to join our Finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to work in a progressive professional practice. The successful candidate will work with an experienced finance team using an advanced integrated computer accounting system (Partner for Windows).
The position reports to the Director of Finance & Administration and duties will include, but will not be limited to the following:
- Monitoring and reconciling client bank accounts daily and ensuring adherence with Solicitors Accounts Regulations 2014
- Monitoring unreconciled receipts and allocation to the relevant files
- Liaising with key suppliers and reconciling supplier statements to our Accounts payable ledgers. Setting up payments on bank for authorisation.
- Collaborating with the accounts team and fee earners to monitor various aspects of file management, WIP, outlay and client ledgers
- Ensuring key critical systems are reconciled daily to the nominal ledger e.g. CRO, court fee meter
- Supporting the Director of Finance & Administration and the accounts team in the day-to-day accounting function within the firm
- Special reports and other ad hoc work as required within the department from time to time
Required Experience:
- At least 3 year’s solid accounting experience is essential for this role, ideally in a professional services environment
- MS Office computer skills required (particularly Excel)
- Excellent accounting and administration skills
- Happy to work on their own initiative but within a team structure
- Excellent communication skills required, both written and verbal
- A strong interest in developing a career in accounts (and legal accounts)
The Candidate:
While not a pre-requisite, the ideal candidate will have good solid accounting knowledge gained in a professional services environment. He/she should have strong organisational and interpersonal skills as well as a disciplined ability to document work, prioritise own tasks and manage time effectively.

A competitive salary will be commensurate with experience. Study leave package available. Experience of working with a professional services firm would be a distinct advantage but is not essential. An immediate start would be ideal.
